At the end of our first week in our two week celebration of jazz, we bring all our Joined Up Jazz Journalists together to discuss the scenes they have seen over their times as jazz buffs. Last year was tough on jazz and on all other forms of music. It was the live performance element that perhaps suffered most but it was good to see artists forming new collaborations and delivering ´virtual´ performances supported by podcasters and radio and TV broadcasters. Those who love the jazz genre as much as do Steve Bewick and Gary Heywood-Everett worked in creating radio presentations, print media articles and virtual playlists to help keep alive the jazz classification and its artists, and to satisfy the hunger for information of the fans of the formats. Here in Lanzarote, Susanna Fondon, my fellow contributor to Lanzarote Information On Line fulfils that same role. So, walk in joined up jazz style and accompany the four of us to follow your art down the sidetracks & detours of jazz alleyways and airwaves around the world.
