Shades of Django

Sunday 19 December - 2:00pm to 4:00pm

Featuring: Professor Stuart Hampton Reeves - guitar; Paul Murphy - rhythm guitar; John Wilton - double bass; James Goodwin-Hudson - lead guitar; Laurence Woof - violin.
Shades of Django return to the Spread Eagle to celebrate music of the legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Django teamed up with Stephane Grappelli to form the Paris-based Quintette duo “Hot Club de France” in 1934, a group was one of the first to play jazz featuring the guitar as a lead instrument. Django’s music fused American swing, classical music, and gypsy music, creating a unique sound. Expect to hear gypsy jazz standards such as Nuages, Djangology, and Minor Swing, from a band that has inspired superb Django style concerts at Preston Jazz & Improvisation Festival, and played at Ribble Valley Jazz Festival.

The Spread Eagle is a beautiful inn at the heart of Ribble Valley and is part of Individual Inns and Robinson’s Brewery & Pubs, Stockport
