As you would expect from any responsible organisation, Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues conduct affairs with consideration and respect for others, and for the law.

Our policies below are constructed with this in mind, and they receive periodic reviews taking into account developments. Should there be any concerns in respect of these policies, please do not hesitate to get in touch by email to this website or telephone 07980 908 159.


CHILD PROTECTION POLICY STATEMENT

Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues believes that:

  1. All children and young people have a right to be kept safe from harm and grow up within an environment where they can achieve their full potential
  2. We believe every child/young person should be valued, safe and happy. We want to make sure that children/young people we have contact with know this and are empowered to tell us if they are suffering harm
  3. We want children/young people who have contact with RVJ&B to enjoy what we have to offer in safety
  4. We want parents and carers who use or attend our organisation to be confident for their children to attend and participate in RVJ&B activities in a way that promotes their child’s well being and keeps them safe
  5. We want organisations who work with us, or who provide funding to us to have confidence and recognise that we are a safe organisation
  6. If we discover or suspect that a child or young person is suffering harm we will pass the matter to the Designated Person or RVJ&B Chair and discuss the matter with the Local Authority Social Services department, a decision will be taken on what action to take in order that they can be protected if necessary.
  7. This Safeguarding Children and Young People policy statement and our safeguarding children and young people procedure apply to all Trustees and those acting in association with or on behalf of RVJ&B to work with young people.
  8. Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues will ensure all trustees and those acting in association with or on behalf of the RVJ&B, are aware of and understand this policy and will be expected to read and sign acceptance of the complete policy document.

We will review our Safeguarding Children and Young People policy and procedure annually to make sure it is still relevant and effective.


VULNERABLE ADULT POLICY

Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues believes that:

  1. All people and in particular Vulnerable Adults have a right to be kept safe from harm and live within an environment where they can achieve their full potential.
  2. We want Vulnerable Adults who have contact with RVJ&B to enjoy what we have to offer in safety.
  3. We want parents and carers who use or attend our organisation with a Vulnerable Adult to be confident that they can participate in RVJ&B activities in a way that promotes the well being of Vulnerable Adults and keeps them safe.
  4. We want organisations who work with us, or who provide funding to us to have confidence and recognise that we are a safe organisation.
  5. If we discover or suspect that a Vulnerable Adult is suffering harm we will pass the matter to the Designated Person or RVJ&B Chair and discuss the matter with the Local Authority Social Services department, a decision will be taken on what action to take in order that they can be protected if necessary.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

This policy states how Ribble Valley Jazz and Blues will manage its Health and Safety responsibilities.

We will manage health and safety by:

  1. Controlling the health and safety risks at places of events, by ensuring that we are aware of and have sight of the Health and Safety Policy statements for each venue we use.

  2. Involving volunteers on health and safety issues that affect them.

  3. Making sure volunteers have relevant information and guidance on health and safety; by ensuring that volunteers and stewards have access to a briefing prior to events and that they are aware of fire procedures for the venue being used.

  4. Making sure that any equipment belonging to RVJ&B and used by volunteers is safe, by ensuring that in line with The Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) that we comply with Pat testing requirements

  5. Trying to stop accidents and health and safety problems related to activities of RVJ&B, by ensuring required risk assessment is undertaken.

  6. Regularly checking that operating conditions are safe and healthy.

We shall review this policy annually and make changes if necessary.

RVJ&B recognises that we live in a society where discrimination still operates to the disadvantage of many groups in society and we must do our upmost to address these issues within our charity.

We believe that all persons should have equal rights to recognition of their human dignity, and to have equal opportunities to be educated, to work, receive services and to participate in society.

We are committed to the promotion of equal opportunities within RVJ&B through the way we manage the organisation and provide services to the community. In order to express this commitment, we develop, promote and maintain policies that will be conductive to the principles of fairness and equality in the workplace.

In the provision of services and programming, RVJ&B is committed to promoting equal opportunities for everyone. Throughout its activities, RVJ&B will treat all people equally whether they are:

  • Hired or commissioned as a part of our programme of events.
  • A volunteer worker.
  • A member of a partner organisation.
  • Applying for a job with us.
  • Trainee workers and students on work experience or placements.

 


DATA PROTECTION

RVJ&B collect basic contact details with our members, audiences and subscribers consent in order to promote our events. This basic personal information is stored in a password protected computer database or listed on a secure server for use on newsletter emailing or printed for posting. We have safeguards to ensure information is never used for any other purpose other than that given permission for and never passed onto another other organisation and this information is accessible only by our marketing people.

We comply with individuals having the right to access the information holds about them. Please contact info@rvjazzandblues.co.uk. RVJ&B will also take reasonable steps ensure that this information is kept up to date by asking data subjects whether there have been any changes. Subscribers to our newsletter have the options of automatically updating their details or being deleted from our lists.


WEBSITE ACCESSIBILITY

This site best viewed with Javascript enabled browsers. It has been tested using a range of browsers on both PCs, Macs, smart phones and tablets to ensure the content displays properly.

The site complies with W3 web standards. All images have relevant descriptions to assist screen readers.

Style sheets are used to control layout and presentation and can be replaced by a user's preferred settings and text sizes can be changed using browser controls.

Where tables are used they present the information in a simple and logical sequence.
