Founded in 2012, it is a community-based band in Clitheroe, Lancashire, rehearsing each Monday evening at the United Reform Church on Moor Lane. Our professional band leader is Paul J Rigby well known also for leading his own Northern Jazz Orchestra as well as other bands including the BwD Big Band. Paul also plays drums in Stax of Soul, the Manchester-based soul performance band.
The band performs a wide range of jazz and dance music ranging from classics of the swing era such as Duke Ellington's Perdido, Count Basie's L'il Darling, Glen Miller's String of Pearls right through to big band arrangements of popular tunes as Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop the Feeling and Stevie Wonder's I Wish.
This year we have already played at the Ribble Valley Jazz Festival and we have the following events lined up - a joint venture with the LCMC Big Band in Morecambe on 28th June followed by an appearance at the Ribchester Festival on 12th July.
